Facebook Newsfeed - "Goodbye Clutter"

Posted on Thursday, 07 March 2013

While Twitter is busy Sunsetting products, Facebook is getting ready for changes of its own.

Last week Facebook invited a select group of reporters to an event, held earlier today, to announce a product update.

Today we found out what that update is.

Facebook is getting a new Newsfeed

Taking inspiration from its own mobile and tablet applications, they have said goodbye to the clutter. A new simpler, cleaner design will be coming to your computers soon. The new newsfeed will see new feed options, bigger images, and more grouped articles are also planned for the release.

From Desktop to Tablet and even mobile the user experience will be more closely matched than ever before.

More information about the newsfeed is available on the Facebook website: https://www.facebook.com/about/newsfeed

Its not surprising to see Facebook taking this route. Recently we have been working with responsive templates for our own clients using Twitter Bootstrap. It has enabled us to rapidly prototype sites and it also offers a framework for developing sites that work across a variety of different size screens. Here is an example of a demo site we constructed last week.
